MEET US

We are so blessed.

Alongside creative careers in the arts, our lives are lit up with joy being at your special events. From birthdays to galas to weddings to baby showers, we feel very grateful to have the opportunity to make children and adults feel like "living magic." Cultivating our talents as face painters, balloon twisters, magicians, storytellers and bringers-of-joy, we love to make your special days that much brighter.

With over a decade of professional entertainment experience and mentorship from many of the worlds most talented face and body artists, Living Magic began in Vancouver in 2013. Here we wanted to create a company dedicated to the creation of wonder and delight for children and adults alike. Living Magic has now become a vibrant addition to Vancouver parties, dedicated to a truly exceptional level of professional entertainment that creates unforgettable special events for you and your loved ones.

There is no greater gift to us than eyes lit up with awe when they see their painted reflection; an event brought to life with balloons, a child convinced they are magic, stories and games that brings laughs. Whatever the occasion, we are here to bring you joy.

With well over 1000 parties and events behind us we do this because we love to give you and those your care about parties to fall in love with.

Thank you for being a part of Living Magic.

Wishing you love, light & laughter!

What are some of your favourite designs to paint?
I love painting full face tigers and dragons!! I love how they're sort of a perfect balance between ferocious.... and adorable. I especially love the smile I get when I turn the mirror around and they see their painted for the first time.
If you were a mythical creature, what would you be?
Definitely a faerie. When I was a kid, I had a book of fairy tales filled with gorgeous drawings of various mythical creatures -- my favourite was this full page drawing of a blue faerie with flowers in her hair. My mom (who's a teacher) transferred the drawing onto a projector slide, then brought one of those big clunky projectors home from school so that I could project the photo onto my wall and draw it. I worked hard on this little personal art project (took me two years to complete), and is one of my favourite memories from childhood.
What is your favourite birthday party food?
I can never get enough of homemade birthday cake, although I'm really quite a big fan of pies. Is pie a birthday food?
What is your real-life superpower?
Insatiable curiosity and un-distractible attention are my superpowers. I love to ask questions. Currently I'm feeling especially curious about our propensities for joy and wonder. Children do this so effortlessly.
When you aren't painting faces and making magic, how do you like to spend your time?
I'm also a writer and speech arts teacher. I write performance poetry about anxiety, connection, desire, and change; and collaborate with other artists, musicians and dancers, to bring these pieces to life. I also teach poetry, prose, Shakespeare, and the art of speaking to kids and adults -- hopefully fostering a love and appreciation for language, and curiosity about the sensation of speaking. In my spare time I read, and balance on other people's feet, hands, and shoulders as an acro yogi.

What are some of your favourite designs to paint?
Any of the full faces with lots of sponge work. I love to see the faces of kids and parents after they have been fully transformed! It's amazing to see how your little one can go from their regular selves to a super hero or fairy in minutes!
If you were a mythical creature, what would you be?
I like to think I'd be a centaur or faun! I love the outdoors so would feel in my element running through magical forests.
What is your favourite birthday party food?
Fries. I love potatoes done in any way shape or form. I also love sushi!
What is your real-life superpower?
Love! I love being kind to my family and friends, and trying to make everyone's day a little bit brighter and their hearts a little lighter.
When you aren't painting faces and making magic, how do you like to spend your time?
I am an actor, director, producer, and teacher. You can catch me in theatres around Vancouver on and off the stage. Most recently I took on a position at an all-abilities inclusive theatre, where I get to work with some fantastic people and use my writing skills to secure grants for our ongoing operations. I also teach Speech Arts and Drama to people from 3-65 years of age! www.juliasiedlanowska.com

What are some of your favourite designs to paint?
Anything scary!  I also love painting superheroes and dragons.

If you were a mythical creature, what would you be?
A Fairy!  I am 5ft tall so I have a lot in common with Fairies.  As a child I loved Tinkerbell (still do) and as an adult I love Puck from Midsummer Nights' Dream.
"And though she be but little, she be fierce" ~  Shakespeare.

What is your favourite birthday party food?
That is a tough one...  pizza, wings, my Grandma's peanut butter squares!  Ice cream cake, cannot go wrong with Ice Cream Cake!

What is your real-life superpower?
Spin the Positive!  I can put a positive spin on any situation, even in a disaster find the humour or at least get some chocolate to make things better!

When you aren't painting faces and making magic, how do you like to spend your time?
In my other life I am a stage manager and choreographer. Between that and hanging out with my 15 nieces and nephews, and my dog Coco- I am pretty busy.

What are some of your favourite designs to paint?
I like making things up, so I'm always excited when someone asks me to go wild. Of the classics, I'm pretty fond of tigers and lions.
If you were a mythical creature what would you be?
I'm pretty sure I'd be a human who had the power of a God.
What is your favourite birthday party food?
This is a hard question as once it's a party, you know it's going to be delicious...I love all foods from hot dogs to savoury crepes, cake, pulled pork, roast beef, interesting salads, mac and cheese, roasted veg, nachos, candy, more cake, some pie, popcorn, fritters, fries, hamburgers, corn on the cob, lasagna, roast chicken, some asparagus, spring rolls, stir fries, curries, deep fried cheese stix, pasta, tacos, wings, some more hot dogs, chips...I could go on...yum, where's the food table?!
What is your real-life super power?
I thought we covered that in question two? :)
When you aren't painting faces and making magic, how do you like to spend your time?
I bike, draw, write, play music, make up songs, hang out in nature, paint, needle felt, sew, laugh, cook, play and cuddle with my kitty cat, Orangee. Recently I put out a book called Leroy, about a needle felted lion in a watercolour painted landscape who loves the world. www.heartshapedrawk.com

What are some of your favourite designs to paint?
My favourite is having fun with floral designs:)
If you were a mythical creature, what would you be?
The boobrie....it is a shape-shifting bird from the mythology and folklore of the Scottish Highlands. It uses its wings to fly, but more commonly uses them to swim through the lakes!
What is your favourite birthday party food?
Oh wow, that is a tough one. I’m going to have to say homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are top for me.
What is your real-life superpower?
Kindness when least expected.
When you aren't painting faces and making magic, how do you like to spend your time?
I love exploring all forms of art and spend my time songwriting, acting, singing, drawing, playing instruments and dancing!
