Belly Painting and Baby Shower Entertainment
Rainbowfish vibes!
The day before my due date, I painted my own belly. After over a decade of my own career as a face painter, I had painted my face and arms, but never had I had the pleasure of adorning my own belly. Amidst the busyness of already having a toddler, as well as running my own businesses, it was truly an honour to be able to be able to take a breath and spend some time being artful and meditative around my body and the precious being growing inside it.
When I woke up that morning, I wasn’t feeling spectacular. The waves of pregnancy hormones, and the upcoming birth (if you’ve ever experienced either) can feel overwhelming at times… but I decided to set my expectations low and just go for it. Painting upside down (and in a mirror) was a new experience for me, but I was so pleased with the process and the result. My little boy wanted to paint along, and some of his brush strokes lay underneath the design as a beautiful and meaningful contribution to the final piece. He didn’t want me to take it off at night and asked about it in the morning! The experience reminded me that simple ceremonies of celebration can really create lasting memories. I will cherish these photos forever.
The belly button!
How had I not noticed before how magical it was?!
This whole experience made me understand a little better how it may have felt for other mothers we’ve painted at Living Magic Entertainment.
